New York Construction Announces Best of ‘08 Winners

New York, N.Y.– New York Construction magazine is pleased to announce the winners of its Best of ‘08 awards program. The annual competition recognizes construction excellence from across the tri-state region.

An independent jury of industry experts judged a record 268 nominated projects earlier this week. Eligible projects were located in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut and substantially completed in the past year.

The 36 winners, including the overall Project of the Year, will be featured in the December issue of New York Construction and honored at an awards breakfast on Wednesday, December 10. The event will be held from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Marriot Marquis in Manhattan.

The jury awarded projects based on entry criteria including project management and client service, safety, design and functionality.

The entries were sorted by project type. Each category has one “Best Of” award winner and one or more awards of “Merit.” The overall “Project of the Year” is determined by the jury to be the best of all entries. This year’s Project of the year was given to the team that developed, designed and built the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

The winners, listed on the following pages, will be entered in the National Best of 2008 competition and judged against winning entries from other regions. Those winners, the first-ever National Best of ’08 Awards, will be profiled in Engineering News-Record, Constructor as well as the 11 Regional Publications in March 2009.
